Summary

The theme of covenant is strong in the entire bible as it describes God’s relationship with his people and what He has agreed to do, what He has promised to do. As you walk the path of salvation, you first accept grace as faith, then you are baptized into covenant. This covenant relationship allows you to receive grace and understanding, blessing and gifts of the Father. A covenant is different than a contract. If one person breaks a contract it becomes null and void. Not so with a covenant. It remains valid.

It is attitude and time spent and the priority in our life we give to things. What do you treasure with your whole heart, soul & mind?  Does your treasure love you back?  God loves us. God loves us even when we turn away from him and the great I AM is always waiting for our return.

On this episode of Truth of the Spirit we will give you some Basics on Using the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  For first time users and beginners it can be a bit confusing.  But we assure you after you listen or watch this podcast you’ll be finding nuggets of treasure of the Christian teaching handed down in the Catholic Church in no time!  Many Catholics of a certain age grew up with a Baltimore Catechism.  This was a “Go To” book for Americans.  However, in 1992 a universal catechism was published to be used internationally.  A monumental undertaking it is a promulgation of teachings that includes documents of ancient times through modern times.  We believe the inspiration of the Holy Spirit helped extract nuggets of truth to share with us in a manageable format of a single volume!  We’ll help you explore various ways to find specific teachings and help in using the resource information that you may not even know is included!  Patti Brunner has taught these basics to RCIA students who were brand new to the Church and to others who were searching to deepen their faith.

This first episode introduces the concept of sacrament and begins with the Sacrament of Confirmation. The flow of the Spirit and the Spirit’s gifts is taught by the Catechism to take root at the decision to be open to God. The sacraments –the signs-of initiation of Baptism and Confirmation witness the choice and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit’s presence. Patti Brunner finds truth within the Catechism; the truth is potential. Each person who receives the sign of the Presence of God among us receives the potential to change the world. Week by week, day by day, hour by hour, the Holy Spirit dwells within those confirmed in the faith.
