Truth of the Spirit offers the episode: “Prophetic Word of Fragrance & Fire”. As the New Year started Patti Brunner began writing in her journal during adoration. That’s when the Lord told her to say something to his children, to you. They are very exciting words!

Scriptures quoted in this episode are from the New American Bible.
The song “Sweet Wind” was written by David Ruis.

BLOG

Welcome to Truth of the Spirit. I am your host Patti Brunner. Today we are presenting a new year Prophetic Word of Fragrance & Fire. I will share the prophecy and then share my discernment about the Lord’s word. Since this Word is in the category of personal, private revelation I invite you to listen with a discerning heart and mind. Here is what the Lord instructed me. He said, “Say this to my children:”

“Today is an exciting time to live. Our generation is about to experience the fullness of faith that has been dormant as evil was allowed to test those who came before us and who tests our children even as we speak. Seek and ye shall find. There is a day coming, says the Lord, and indeed the day is upon you, that the Holy Spirit shall emblaze the earth with a spiritual awakening. Just as in the natural one sees smoke and shouts, “Fire, Fire!” so shall the people of God, who are awake, shall “smell” the burning embers of the fire of God—a pleasing aroma sweeter than incense, more subtle than roses, and more fresh than a pine forest or cut cedar. As this ‘smell’ penetrates the hearts of the faithful and they take note of it to those who are asleep, they shall awaken and “smell” it also. “Fire, Fire!” shall be the call of this generation. The fire of love shall consume the dross, the fear, the decay. The fire of power shall consume infirmity and lack. The power and fire of the Word of God shall free those held captive by sin and despair as repentance enters their hearts and the shackles fall apart and disintegrate—no more to lead them in addictions of any kind. The call of “Fire! Fire!” will not empty the church but will cause others to run towards it and enter in to share the wondrous fire of the Lord! People will set aside the things that seemed so important in the past that were, in truth, vain and frivolous, and even decadent. Reach out and embrace your sisters and brothers to come into the Presence of the Fire of God.

“The fire of Pentecost has been waiting to be stirred. The embers have passed from generation to generation not unlike the torch that is passed for the great jubilee and even the secular Olympic torch that runs from city to city. So shall the fire of the Lord begin to spread. And like the wind that carries burning embers among the treetops to ignite new areas so shall the breath of God blow his fire from town to town, country to country. Share this Word so that the people will watch for it and recognize the meaning of the “smell”. This is the day the Lord has made.

“The final day of darkness is near at hand; the captives of the dungeons shall see the dawn of light and be glad. Blessed be the Name of the Lord God forever. Jesus Christ is Lord over all the earth and heaven beyond.

Isn’t that an amazing Word? If any of you listeners smell the fragrant fire of God, please let us know! Let everyone know! As I contemplated this Word and thought about what kind of smell could have that effect, I immediately thought of a personal witness a few years ago of a spiritual mentor that involved a heavenly smell. As I read the prophetic Word again, all sorts of scriptures began to pop out. I will share some of these scriptures with you today so that you can discern this Word, and how the Lord might choose to apply it.

Kandy Hainbach, a wonderful lady, had a healing ministry and was a counselor. She miraculously recovered from having her neck broken in an accident. Even in her nineties she continued to serve the Lord. In fact she was 91 when she had this fragrance experience! Interestingly, this experience took place on August 22 which is the Catholic feast day of the Queenship of Mary. It involves a tiny glass bottle of olive oil that had been blessed by a priest to use for personal prayer. Three people, including a Protestant young man, joined Kandy at her counseling office in our church to pray. They all were very much in love with the Lord. Kandy took the small vial of blessed olive oil from her desk drawer and had her friend use it to make the sign of the cross on each of their foreheads. The vial was then capped and placed on the desk. After the three of them had prayed for Kandy, she began to smell the odor of roses and then it became much stronger. She asked if they smelled roses. Her friend’s daughter said “yes”, she did faintly at first then it got stronger. The friend and the young man smelled only the odor of olive oil then the friend noticed her fingers she had used to make the sign of the cross smelled of roses. Kandy opened the vial that had been sitting untouched & tightly sealed while they prayed and now it had the odor of roses instead of olive oil. The young man didn’t smell roses at that time. He had shared a few days earlier the thing that bothered him about Catholicism was they seemed to worship Mary. The group explained to him the actual role of the Blessed Virgin in the Church and when he accepted what they had to say, he could smell the odor of roses and tears rolled down his cheeks. All four of them were just amazed at the experience.

Kandy’s first counseling appointment for the afternoon was a young Protestant man who came in the room and said he smelled rose petals. When the story of the oil was shared with him and he could experience the odor of the oil, his tears began to flow. Each person who entered the office the rest of the afternoon could smell roses. Kandy has witnessed that the vial of olive oil had about 1/3 inch of oil and resting on top was a ¼ inch of liquid of a slightly different color. The two wouldn’t mix even when shaken. The strong odor of roses remained.
I have heard many personal testimonies of people spiritually smelling roses, oranges, bread baking and cake, especially in the adoration chapel or around prayerful people. Me, too! Will the next great move of God involve the sense of smell?

As I share the word again, I want to share a little of my discernment of what I heard. The Lord said, “Say this to my children.” I immediately knew that the Lord meant for me to share this with you.

He said, “Today is an exciting time to live. Our generation is about to experience the fullness of faith that has been dormant as evil was allowed to test those who came before us and who tests our children even as we speak.”
Here I recalled Pope Leo XIII and visionary conversation he overheard when Satan was given permission to test God’s people for a hundred years. This should be over about now, don’t you think?

Next the Lord said, “Seek and ye shall find.”
Scripture seem to jump out before me. I quickly thought of Jeremiah and the Gospel of Matthew. Jeremiah 29 says: “11.For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the LORD—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. 12When you call me, and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. 13When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, 14 I will let you find me—oracle of the LORD—and I will change your lot; I will gather you together from all the nations and all the places to which I have banished you—oracle of the LORD—and bring you back to the place from which I have exiled you.“
Matthew 7:7 starts with the heading, “The Answer to Prayers.” Then the scripture continues, “7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find.”

My word from the Lord continued, “There is a day coming, says the Lord, and indeed the day is upon you, that the Holy Spirit shall emblaze the earth with a spiritual awakening.”
I thought of the first few words of John 5:25 where it says, “Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming and is now here” the verse continues, “when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.”

The Lord said to me, “Just as in the natural one sees smoke and shouts, “Fire, Fire!” so shall the people of God, who are awake, shall “smell” the burning embers of the fire of God.”
Verse 11 in Numbers 17 says: “Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, put fire from the altar in it, lay incense on it, and bring it quickly to the community to make atonement for them; for wrath has come forth from the LORD and the plague has begun.” 12 Aaron took his censer just as Moses directed and ran in among the assembly, where the plague had already begun among the people. Then he offered the incense and made atonement for the people, 13 while standing there between the living and the dead. And so the scourge was checked.”
Could this be the healing of the pandemic?

The Lord said to me, “Just as in the natural one sees smoke and shouts, “Fire, Fire!” Now, at this point I thought of smoke in a movie theatre.

“Just as in the natural one sees smoke and shouts, “Fire, Fire!”, so shall the people of God, who are awake, shall “smell” the burning embers of the fire of God—a pleasing aroma sweeter than incense, more subtle than roses, and more fresh than a pine forest or cut cedar.”
I thought of the pungent smell of cut cedar and the cedars of Lebanon. Hosea 14 verse 7 says, “His splendor will be like the olive tree and his fragrance like Lebanon cedar.”

The Lord said to me, “As this ‘smell’ penetrates the hearts of the faithful and they take note of it to those who are asleep, they shall awaken and “smell” it also. “Fire, Fire!” shall be the call of this generation.” At this point I realized that this generation is all the people now living.

He told me, “The fire of love shall consume the dross, the fear, the decay.”
Isaiah 1: 25 says, “I will turn my hand against you, and refine your dross in the furnace, removing all your alloy.”

“The fire of power shall consume infirmity and lack.”
I thought of the “power” gifts of the Holy Spirit listed in 1st Corinthians chapter 12.

“The power and fire of the Word of God shall free those held captive by sin and despair as repentance enters their hearts and the shackles fall apart and disintegrate”
Like the shackles that fell off Paul while he was in prison in Acts 16 and his jailer was freed from despair and his sins.

“The shackles fall apart and disintegrate —no more to lead them in addictions of any kind.”
I realized that addictions are areas where we have lost control; where we have lost freewill.

The Lord told me, “The call of “Fire! Fire!” will not empty the church but will cause others to run towards it and enter in to share the wondrous fire of the Lord! People will set aside the things that seemed so important in the past that were, in truth, vain and frivolous, and even decadent.” The Lord said, “Reach out and embrace your sisters and brothers to come into the Presence of the Fire of God.”

He said, “The fire of Pentecost has been waiting to be stirred.”
Here I thought of 2nd Timothy, chapter 1, where Paul reminds this young bishop of the Church of “The Gifts Timothy Has Received. 6 For this reason,” Paul says, “I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands.”

The Lord said, “The embers have passed from generation to generation not unlike the torch that is passed for the great jubilee and even the secular Olympic torch that runs from city to city.”
I remembered when our Diocese of Little Rock celebrated their 150th sesquicentennial anniversary and 50 young people passed a torch each mile the distance from the first Catholic mission in Arkansas to the diocesan offices in Little Rock. And in similar fashion, in 2004 the Olympic Flame that was passed, one to another, as it was taken around the world, ending in Greece.

The Lord continued, “So shall the fire of the Lord begin to spread.” Then I thought about the foxes with tails on fire that Samson set loose.

The Lord said, “And like the wind that carries burning embers among the treetops to ignite new areas so shall the breath of God blow his fire from town to town, country to country.”
I thought hearing the song “Sweet Wind”, for the first time during the Charismatic Jubilee Conference of 2000 at Notre Dame and how I felt the anointing of God as we sang it with thousands of others, and how we saw a miracle of the sun that day.

The Lord then instructed, “Share this Word so that the people will watch for it and recognize the meaning of the “smell”. This is the day the Lord has made. ” –Another scripture!

The Lord said, “The final day of darkness is near at hand.”
That word “final” meant to me that our present darkness was finally coming to an end.

He said, “The captives of the dungeons shall see the dawn of light and be glad.”
I thought of Acts 12 when “Peter, secured by double chains, was sleeping between two soldiers, while outside the door guards kept watch on the prison. 7 Suddenly the angel of the Lord stood by him and a light shone in the cell. He tapped Peter on the side and awakened him, saying, “Get up quickly.” The chains fell from his wrists. 8 The angel said to him, “Put on your belt and your sandals.” He did so. Then he said to him, “Put on your cloak and follow me.” 9 So he followed him out, not realizing that what was happening through the angel was real; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first guard, then the second, and came to the iron gate leading out to the city, which opened for them by itself.”

“Blessed be the Name of the Lord God forever. Jesus Christ is Lord over all the earth and heaven beyond.”

The next day after the Lord gave me this Word, during the vigil Mass to celebrate the Epiphany, the Visit of the Magi, our priest used smoking incense to bless the altar, the Book of the Gospel, and the people. Through my Covid mask I expectantly drew a deep breath. But there was not a heavenly smell; I couldn’t even smell the incense but the billowing smoke rose toward heaven and seemed to carry with it all our prayers.

Before I finish I want to share a couple of affirming visions. This first one is from Anna Dickey who gave several important words before her death. On October 2000, after praying for a “vision” of revival she received this from the Lord:
“You will understand as I tell you. The time is not now for your understanding. I only ask for your desire of understanding. I ask that you move forward in My Grace. Can’t you feel the soft gentle breeze moving? The smell of newness and freshness? Soon, I will cover this land with My Freshness, removing the old staleness.”
“I will walk among My People, teaching, healing.”
“My joy shall spread across the land like wildfire.”
“Stewardship of My Gifts — have you shared them? Have you used them in their order?”

The second one is a vision followed by a dream that I had fifteen years ago:
I stood before the Lord and there was a door. Jesus turned the key in the lock, unlocked the door and opened it a little then handed me the key. He told me, “I have unlocked the lock.” “The key is now in your hand.”
The same day I also had a dream where I saw the face of God and as He spoke a ‘smoke’ came out of His mouth. It seemed to me that the smoke was the Spirit of God coming forth.

I found several other affirmations and references that I might share on a follow-up episode. If any of you listeners smell the fragrant fire of God, please let us know! Let everyone know! Awake everyone you know and tell them!
